Engine Lab Technician (1801981) – Union, NJ
The position of Engine Lab Technician is located at BASF’s engine laboratory in Union, New Jersey. The Union Engine Lab (UEL) is part of BASF’s catalyst research organization. The Engine Lab performs prototype sample testing and provides test data to research and application teams developing next generation automotive catalysts.
The primary responsibility of this position is test cell operation. This includes:
Installation of catalyst samples in the exhaust system (diesel and gasoline), and conduct required testing
Chassis Dyno operation testing samples on vehicles
Monitor engine operation and document activities through databases part of the quality system
Perform routine inspection, cleaning and repairs
Complete routine scheduled preventive maintenance on test rig, along with prepping the analytical benches
Advises supervisor and test cell engineer when standard procedures are not applicable, test cell operator reports to UEL Operation’s Supervisor
Candidate should have a strong desire to work within research laboratory environment and understands principles and importance of safe operation
Basic computer skills including MS office software, especially MS Excel
Clear oral and written communication skills

Basic qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
3 years of experience working with diesel and/or gasoline engines
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical certification in Automotive, Electronics, and/or similar field
Experience with automotive engines
Basic knowledge of electronics/electricity
